The book of the month for October 2024 is Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself by Nedra Glover Tawwab.

In this practical and easy-to-understand book, Tawwab guides the reader through the nitty gritty process of maintaining boundaries, including:

  • defining boundaries

  • the cost of unhealthy boundaries

  • the difficulty in setting healthy boundaries

  • the 6 types of boundaries

  • what boundary violations look like

  • communicating your boundaries

  • trauma and boundaries

  • how to do the work of setting and keeping boundaries

Boundaries are defined by Nedra Glover Tawwab as “expectations and needs that help you feel safe and comfortable in your relationships.” With hands-on tools like self-assessment quizzes and scripts for what to say when someone violates your boundaries - Tawwab tackles the complexities of it all, making boundaries accessible and achievable.

Healthy boundaries allow us to manage our work/life balance, cope with difficult interactions, and enjoy safety and comfort in our relationships. Setting boundaries isn’t always easy, but it is possible. And as Tawwab states in the opening line of her introduction —“Boundaries will set you free.”
