Why therapy?

Patricia McGuire Counseling therapy in Nashville, TN

by Patricia McGuire, LPC-MHSP

Each of us is worthy of a space that is our own. A time to press pause and engage in self-care. Therapy is exactly that: a space of shared reflection and care.

Therapy is a nuanced and unique experience built on our working therapeutic relationship. It is dynamic and relational - each session may feel different depending on the needs of the moment. Therapy is not “one size fits all” and is completely tailored to you.

Therapy can be restorative - getting you “back to yourself” and functioning in a way that fits your wants, needs, and desires. Therapy can be exploratory, unrushed, and depth-oriented. Looking at ingrained patterns and habits allows you to understand yourself better and move through the inevitable challenges of life with more ease.

Sometimes, therapy can feel intimidating as you shake up old habits, gain new insights, and make lasting change. Addressing difficult parts of your life experience is never easy - it takes immense courage!

Therapy is always a place to practice and maintain mental wellness. We can discuss mindfulness strategies, self-compassion practices, and other self-care techniques to help you flourish.

Welcome. Come just as you are - right here, right now. Let’s do this together.
